In the local area

Oxford is a 20 minute drive away. An amazing city, full of history, culture, shopping and night life. An ideal city break! If you love shopping, Bicester Village, a well known designer outlet, is just a 20 minutes drive away. Packed full of brands and bargains!

We are just minutes from Soho Farmhouse and nearby we have a number of old local pubs serving local ales and gastro food. If you're looking for something different the superb Secret Supper Society popup restaurant (where Raymond Blanc has been known to dine!) is also a short drive away and highly recommended.

Blenheim Palace, a Unesco World Heritage site in lovely Woodstock, is on our doorstep, a simple 15 minutes drive. Blenheim Palace is the seat of the Duke of Marlborough. Built in the 18 th century it was the birth place of Sir Winston Churchill. It is a stunning place to visit, with tours of the house, a butterfly house, restaurant, shopping and incredible grounds. Woodstock itself has lovely shops and tea rooms, a great day out!

Edgehill is the place of the famous first battle of the English civil war in 1642 between the Kings’ Cavaliers and Cromwells parliamentarians, the Roundheads. At the pub ‘The Castle’ in Edgehill there is a plaque in the gardens showing you the battle field directly in front of you. Edgehill is 20 minutes from Hempton and well worth a visit, the view is wonderful!

The Rollright stones, a complex of three Neolithic and Bronze Age megalithic monuments near the village of Long Compton, is just 15 minutes drive away and just outside the town of Chipping Norton. This is an important site for various forms of Contemporary Paganism as well as for other esotericists who hold magico-religious ceremonies there. Its is a beautifully peaceful, tranquil place, certainly worth a visit. Solstice rituals are still held there.

Hempton is just at the gateway to the Cotswolds with cotswold towns and villages just 30 minutes away. Burford, Stow on the Wold, Moreton in the Marsh, Broadway and Snowshill all gorgeous tourist spots, with beautiful villages in between. Our local villages offer the cotswold feel with old pubs serving local ale and high quality food. Great Tew, The Barfords, Swereford and South Newington to name but a few.
